IGS-NA Students

Student Membership in the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) is free. Students interested in joining as members of IGS North America should be studying (graduate or undergraduate) in a related engineering program in Canada or the United States or another area of North America not supported by its own chapter.

Opportunities for Students with IGS-NA

  • Apply for research grants, such as the Research Innovation Fellowships jointly supported by IGS North America, ASTM International Committee D35 on Geosynthetics, and  
  • Access to IGS technical resources
  • Participate in student-centered programming and competitions at IGS conferences
  • Reduced cost (and at times complimentary) registrations to IGS workshops and conferences 
  • IGS Job Shadowing program opportunities
  • Professional network development
  • Early-stage career leadership development (e.g., co-chairing conference sessions)
  • For those under 36, join the IGS Young Members Committee, which expands the range of financial grants available to young members for event attendance and research
